Research Interest :

Prof. Chabaat’s team research focuses on the development and application of theoretical and experimental techniques to characterize the response of materials to mechanical, dynamics and thermal loads. He is particularly interested in formulating analytical and numerical models for characterizing fatigue and fracture of materials and structures.

Current Research Topics :

Prof. Chabaat is interested in formulating theoretical and experimental fracture mechanics in engineering applications and failure analysis. The following research projects are developped by Prof. Chabaat’s team :

  • Fracture mechanics of concrete and ceramics matrix composites.
  • Experimental and numerical analysis of fatigue crack propagation in materials.
  • Fracture process zone analysis using emissions acoustics and high resolution
    microscopy observations.
  • Analysis of interactions cracks-process zone or damage zone in brittle materials.
    Statistical analysis.
